Frequently asked questions

Will compressing my PDF make the text blurry?
Not with “Keep text”. It only recompresses the photos inside the PDF and leaves text, tables and vector graphics untouched, so text stays sharp, searchable and copyable. “Maximum compression” turns each page into an image, so text can no longer be selected.
How much smaller will my PDF get?
PDFs with lots of photos or scans usually shrink by 50–90%. Text-only PDFs are already light and barely change — in that case we don't offer a download that would be bigger than your original.
What's the best way to compress a scanned PDF?
Scanned pages are images, so “Maximum compression” with “Medium” strength works best. If it's still too big, try “High”.
How do I get under an upload limit like 10 MB?
Start with “Keep text · Medium”. If it's still too big, switch to “Maximum” or “High” and press Compress again — your file stays loaded. As a last resort, split it into two files with Split PDF.
Can I compress a password-protected PDF?
PDFs that require a password to open can't be compressed. Remove the password first, then try again.
Is it safe? Are my files uploaded?
Your PDF is never uploaded. Compression happens entirely inside your browser, so it's safe for contracts and work documents.
